One positive of the pandemic is that it has forced employers to adapt at speed to work efficiently in new innovative ways.
Those who rejected the idea of flexible or home working have had to dive headfirst as restrictions and lockdowns took hold and many released work traditionally done in the office can be done in a reasonably satisfactory way at home.
Employees have also enjoyed the experience which has resulted in saving money and seeing more of their loved ones, not to mention the time saved with not having to go on long and expensive commutes.
What has transpired with these changes is a more flexible working pattern of work in the future which has altered traditional ways and approaches to working life, even though there are many who are keen to get back to the office and interact with others in a more face to face setting.
These new ways of working have however come at a cost, employers are reporting:
– challenges in organisational development including team-building, innovation and motivation of workers.
– difficulties in recruitment and finding suitable candidates who now have new demands and expectations than before.
And of course, this begs the bigger question – if these roles can be done from home / remotely, they can also easily be done anywhere in the world where there might be greater savings and opportunities for employers. 🤷🏽‍♂️
