Should the use of face masks be left for businesses to decide or continue to be mandated by law?

With just days to go until 19th July when all legal restrictions on COVID measures will be lifted, confusion reigns over the protocols around mask-wearing which will no longer be required by law in England.

From Monday both workers and customers will be able to decide to continue using face coverings, particularly in crowded and indoor spaces as a precaution, or decide simply not to use them at all.

TFL (Transport for London) and major UK airlines have taken a stance that they require the use of masks when using their services and some businesses such as Waterstones are also encouraging customers to wear masks in stores.

While COVID cases continue to rise, many businesses want clearer guidance.

Many are also worried about possible abuse to their staff who will become the firing line due to the lack of clarity and others also worried about abuse between customers too as the protection and guidance of the law is removed.
These types of abuse have already increased since the second lockdown.

What’s your view?

▶️ Are you going to wear masks or simply stop using them?

▶️ As a business, will you require your staff and customers to wear masks as a local rule or let them decide for themselves?

▶️ What about the possible conflict between those wearing and those not wearing masks, how would you handle this in your business?

I’d appreciate your thoughts on these questions and the poll below.
